Key groups & activities organised by the Association

The Gayton Residents Association organises a wide number of activities fostering our neighbourhood's community spirit and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Flower Baskets

Gayton Road is the only street in Hampstead to have hanging flower baskets. These are fully paid for & maintained by the residents. We are always looking for volunteers to help maintain the flower baskets, in particular watering them daily.

Safer Neighbourhoods

The Gayton Road Association takes active part in the Metropolitan Police's Safe Neighbourhoods program. Talks are organised on how to protect your home and personal security. Please contact a member of the assocation if you would like to find out more.

Community Issues

The Gayton Road Association works closely with Camden's services on a wide range of community concerns and is regularly consulted by Camden Borough on matters affecting the neighbourhood. Topics covered include:

  • the number & location of rental car parking slots in the area
  • replacing felled trees in the street
  • reviewing planning guidelines & permissions
  • the street's victorian lamp posts
  • late-night opening hours of local pubs & restaurants

Sports & Outdoor Activities

An ad-hoc program of outdoor activities for children and parents, in the past these have included bowling and football on the Heath - check the calendar for further events, including the Jubilee Picnic.

Wine Tasting

In collaboration with Jeroboam's of Hampstead's Heath Street, we are organising a series of wine tasting events - an enjoyable informal way of meeting fellow residents and learning about wine! A modest participation fee is charged to cover costs.

Restaurant & Social Outings

The association hosts a number of evening meals throughout the year in local pubs & restaurants. An annual membership meal is usually organised in the first weeks of January. These events create an ideal setting to meet and get to know your neighbours.

Cultural Events

An opportunity for Gayton residents to meet and explore the wealth of dynamic arts organisations in our local area. The first event will be a curator's talk at the Camden Arts Centre or at 176 -The Zabludowicz Collection in September. More details will follow.

Plumbers, Builders & Baby-sitting

The residents association frequently provides informal references as to good local builders & craftsmen. Similarly parents can recommend baby-sitters known to the community and pet-minders or dog-walkers as required.
